Photograph by paulnicklen for @natgeo // At 2am, the aurora dances across the night sky in Canada’s Yukon Territory. I wanted to capture the reflection as well so I waded out in the the cold water. As soon as I started shooting, I heard noises behind me in the bushes along the shoreline. I could not make out their shapes in the dark but they looked too small to be bears. I let out a long wolf howl and immediately a pack of at least 10 wolves broke the silence of the night air as they howled all around me. This moment filled me with gratitude and such a deep level of happiness that is hard describe. To see a time lapse of this exact moment, feel free to follow me on @paulnicklen. These are the moments that I live for. I will be sharing stories this week at the Telluride Mountain Film Festival. #mfilm16 #gratitude #love #beauty #picoftheday #photoftheday
